It’s time to clear the clutter!
99 things to get rid of right now without ever missing!
Know exactly what things to throw away to instantly declutter your home.
Home is where you and your loved ones should be able to live comfortably.
Sometimes we get a little too comfortable and let things start to accumulate.
I get it, sometimes it easier to hide it, than it is to throw it away.
But at some point, the clutter starts busting out at the seams.
How To Get Rid Of Clutter
Why do we keep so much clutter around when it truly makes us cringe?
Think about it, doesn’t the sight of bills and junk mail piling up on your kitchen counter annoy you? It does me.
In fact, most of the time, the reason our homes look messy is because of so much stuff.
Wouldn’t you love a clutter-free space that is clean and makes you proud?
OK then, it’s time to get rid of stuff!
Why It Is So Hard Getting Rid Of Stuff
The reason why decluttering seems so hard is because we have to have the motivation and the right mindset.
We tend to keep a lot of sentimental things and “someday” items.
I understand that getting rid of sentimental things can be hard, but those “someday” items gotta go!
If you are having trouble finding the right mindset to declutter your home, then read this post about what really helped me when I was completely overwhelmed by the mess.

De-cluttering is great, but don’t forget there are a million ways to re-purpose un-wanted items, eg: grocery bags can be turned into plarn, a CD makes a great clock, and cardboard, well! The sky’s the limit! They don’t all have to go to landfill ?
I love making plant bags for groceries. That way I don’t have to get any more.
Old sweater can be upcycled for a new look or other things.
A great list of things to throw away and instantly declutter!
I think the reason I hold onto some of the clutter is because I need permission to know that it’s okay to let go of some things, especially things I received from my students, pictures they drew for me, cards, etc. Also, some of these things that you said throw out, like things that haven’t been used in 6 months, shouldn’t they be donated instead? I was working with a professional organizer right before the pandemic and she was very helpful with helping me declutter but we were only able to tackle my closet before we went into quarantine. I am thankful for this list, and will pin it in case I am not able to resume working with my organizer.
I’m stunned at how many people think it’s a good idea to get rid of all your old towels. When you have a sick dog who needs to go to the vet, you may want a “utility towel” under him, or when your sink drain fails and you’ve got water running from.under your sink onto the kitchen floor, I’d much rather use an old towel than a nice new one. We keep a basket of old towels for just such nasty uses. If they get too ucky, then they are tossed. But we are not going to sacrifice our nice, soft, fluffy good towels.
I heard a dear lady on youtube talking and she said that remembering everything will be thrown away eventualy helps with the guilt of throwing away thing. There was another lady who said when you are feeling guily about getting rid of something you paid a lot of money for that didn’t work out you have to realize the money was wasted when it was bought. Having it sitting around taking up valuable space and time is only making the mistake worse.
Please check with your local animal shelter to see if they would like old towels, comforters, sheets, blankets. If the shelter does not want them, ask other pet rescue organizations. Where I live, they are always requesting these items.
Awesome article! I always have trouble keeping my kitchen and living room free from clutter, it always seems to be the place where my kid’s toys, homework, and crafts end up! I spent a few hours last week decluttering last week before the beginning of the winter season- I got rid of so many items on this list! I ended up having a local cleaner come and that was really the cherry on top to make these two rooms look clean! Thank you for helping me develop better decluttering habits!
