All you need is a few ingredients like a boxed brownie mix and some green food coloring!
The Grinch story is a Christmas tradition that has been around for generations.
In fact, it’s such a popular Christmas story that has been made into a cartoon, an animated TV special, and even a live-action movie.
I think so many people love the story of the Grinch because it shows the true meaning of Christmas and how the holiday can bring out the best in all of us.
As in all of Dr. Suess’s books, there is a meaningful takeaway that sticks with us.
So of course my family enjoys reading How The Grinch Stole Christmas and watching the animated version plus the Jim Carrey version every holiday season.
We watch a lot of Christmas movies during the month of December, it’s one of our favorite family Christmas traditions.
To make it more fun, I decided to make a batch of easy Grinch brownies to enjoy while watching the movie.
Grinch Brownies Recipe
This recipe is an easy Grinch Christmas dessert to make the movie even more special.
These Grinch brownies are so simple to make and you may already have all the ingredients in your pantry.
I was in a hurry so I cheated a little with the recipe, and used my favorite boxed gluten-free brownie mix.
I promise, you can use your favorite boxed brownie mix and these will always turn out great!
Grinch Brownies Recipe Ingredients
- 1 package brownie mix (your favorite brand)
- 1 egg
- ⅓ cup oil
- ¼ cup water
- Tub of vanilla frosting (your favorite brand)
- Green food coloring
- Red heart sprinkles
Make sure to follow the directions of your brownie mix and use the oil, water, and egg ratio that it requires.
I used the ratio that my boxed brownie mix required, but every brand is different so just follow the directions for your brownie mix.
Directions:
Let’s get started!
Preheat your oven to 350 F.
Grease a 9×9 square baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
Whisk your brownie mix, egg, water, and oil together in a large mixing bowl.
Be careful not to over-mix.
Pour the mixture into your greased baking pan and bake for 30 minutes.
Once the brownies are done, check the center of your brownies with a knife or toothpick to make sure they are done.
Remember though, brownies are meant to be a little gooey.
Be sure to let them cool for at least 30 minutes.
Dump the vanilla frosting into a microwave-safe glass bowl.
Microwave the frosting for 15 seconds and then stir.
Mix in 6-8 drops of green food coloring until you have the perfect shade of green.
Pour the bright green frosting over top of the cooled brownies.
After cutting into small squares, add 1 red sprinkle heart to each grinch brownie.

Easy Grinch Brownies

Easy Grinch brownies to make a perfect treat for any Grinch movie night.
Ingredients
- 1 package brownie mix (your favorite brand)
- 1 egg
- ⅓ cup oil
- ¼ cup water

- Pour the bright green frosting over top of the cooled brownies.
