Clear The Clutter Checklist

By now you must know that decluttering your home can be a never-ending cycle.

Maybe you just finished doing the 30 Day Decluttering Challenge or have finally had enough of the mess and are just now starting to clear out all of the clutter.

Either way, the only way to keep your home tidy is to continually maintain it. I know it may seem overwhelming.

I understand because I was once completely overwhelmed by the mess in my home, but I was able to change my mindset and finally clear the clutter!

Read: How To Get Motivated To Clean When You Are Overwhelmed and learn the ONE thing that helped me declutter my whole house.

Clear The Clutter

Now if I can do it, you can do it. I know it can be hard to figure out where to even start.

It helps to think about the items you want to live with, instead of the things you can live without. When your home is filled with only things you use and love, it becomes a haven you can relax in and be proud of.

Now, on the other hand, when it is filled with clutter, it can be overwhelming and lead to so much stress.

Here is a list of 99 things you can throw away and never miss to instantly declutter. It is a great way to start!

Keep in mind when you declutter daily, weekly, monthly and even quarterly, it controls the clutter from accumulating. If you tie it into your existing routine, your home should stay neat and tidy.

Make it a habit to declutter a little bit every day.

Always have a decluttering bin somewhere inconspicuous in your home to add things you no longer want as you come across them.

Using the clutter clearing checklist will help you maintain a clutter-free home.

How To Reduce Clutter In Your Home

Now the simplest way to control clutter is to limit what you bring into your home. You don’t want to go through all the hard work of decluttering your home, just do it all over again.

You have control over what is brought into your home.

Before you bring something new into your home, ask yourself the similar questions you asked when decluttering:

  • Will I use it?
  • Do I need it?
  • Do I love it?

Let these questions guide you when you are shopping or when someone gives you something.

Those three questions have saved me so much money.

Recently, I walked into Hobby Lobby and bought nothing.

Two years ago, I would have been coming out of there regretting all the money I just spent on decorations that I really didn’t need.

Then I would have been forced with finding places to put those decorations or storing the decorations that they were replacing.

Now, I try to make all of my seasonal decorations. By keeping things minimal and neutral, they go with everything and can be used again and again.

Minimize Clutter

Do you see how I minimized bringing clutter into my home?

We hold the control. You must reduce your clutter before it even begins.

If you have a soft spot for shopping sales, then try your best to just not even look unless you need something.

I spent years wasting money on online shopping and ended up with a lot of things I really didn’t need or love.

After working so hard on decluttering my home, I made myself a promise to only fill my home with things I use, need, or love.

You can prevent paper clutter right now by canceling subscriptions and junk mail. Look into the website OptOutPrescreen.com to remove your name and address from all of those credit card offer junk mailings.

It will save you so much time from having to throw them away, and it can protect you from identity theft.

Also, it’s a good idea to keep a paper shredder near where you keep your mail to take care of paper clutter immediately.

How To Get Rid Of Stuff

Don’t be afraid to throw things away, sometimes it feels really good to stuff a trash bag full of all of that overwhelming stuff!

Then again, if something is in good condition add it to the donation bin. There are many people out there struggling that would love that old coat.

Just remember, to actually donate the donation bin when it is full. You don’t want it sitting around continuing to add to the mess.

Now if you haven’t already, take the 30 Day Decluttering Challenge to reduce all the clutter in your home. Then use this checklist to keep up with, so it never gets out of control again!

Checklists are truly such a great resource! I found that for me I have to do some sort of de-cluttering/organizing regularly. It doesn’t take long before it piles up and feels insurmountable, lol! Having a guide to direct you where to start really helps develop it into a habit. Thanks for the tips!
