DIY Christmas Card Display Holder made of refurbished shutters for the perfect shabby chic Christmas decor!

DIY Christmas Card Display Holder

We always display our Christmas cards differently every year.

Mostly, because up until now, I had not found a DIY holiday card display that I truly loved.

This year, while cleaning out our attic, I found some old plastic shutters that were a little warped and a very ugly brown.

They were on our house when we bought it, I have no idea why when we replaced them we stored some of them in the attic, but I am sure glad we did.

I love to refurbish things and bring them back to life. When I was looking at the shutters, it came to me that with a little paint I could turn them into a shabby chic Christmas card holder!

Homemade Christmas Card Holder

If you have been looking for Christmas card display ideas, you will be happy to know that this one is simple and displays cards perfectly.

A DIY shutter Christmas card holder is a genius idea and can be customized to your home decor.

My home is filled with white and neutral colors, but I love adding a pop of red to my Christmas decor.

So even though I painted the shutter white, I used my Cricut to give it a little pizazz.

First, I scrubbed the old shutters with soap and water.

Then I used white chalk spray paint to give the shutter a fresh shabby chic look.

I love chalk paint, because it adheres to pretty much everything, and it always gives that perfect rustic look.

I added a coat and let it dry for 4-5 hours and then added another coat.

Then I got crafty with my Cricut.

I am new to the Cricut world, so I thought this was the perfect project to get started.

The shutters had a large space at the top so I decided to add a vinyl decoration.

Adding the 651 vinyl was super easy.

There is really not much more to it than that.

So if you have an old shutter, slap some paint on it and make a DIY holiday card display.

It can be a great addition to your home decor and you can even use it to display greeting cards all year round!

What a clever DIY! My parents always used to just put our Christmas cards either on the fridge or strung above the doorway where our Christmas tree was. But this is so much prettier and super fun too! I might have to make it with my mom!
