As we start another year, I am excited to share my latest adventure with my readers.

I am excited to share my latest challenge with you – the 100 Books Challenge!

I have posted several fun challenges in the past, like the penny-saving, gratitude, and decluttering challenges.

As you can see, I like a good challenge, so why not start a reading challenge?

This year, I’ve set myself an ambitious goal – the 100-book challenge.

I’ll be tracking my progress and sharing insights from each book I read in a reading journal.

Let me tell you what inspired this reading challenge.

In 2023, I set a goal of reading 10 books, but to my surprise, I devoured 27 amazing reads.

Feeling inspired by my success, I aimed higher in 2024, setting my sights on 30 books.

Once again, I surpassed my expectations, finishing the year with 42 books under my belt.

Now, I don’t have a lot of free time.

I have three kids, a full-time job, a husband I love spending all my time with, and many community commitments.

However, I decided that reading is MY time.

So, I subscribed to Audible and listen to books all the time—while driving, cooking, sitting at my children’s practices, or waiting in the doctor’s or dentist’s waiting room.

Then, on days I get to wind down, I snuggle in my favorite chair with a paperback.

I will admit that Audible has been the only reason I have been able to finish so many books.

You can try Audible for free (and get free books) for 30 days, after that, it is still so worth it at only $7.95/month.

Now, that’s just how I do it, but the beauty of this challenge is that there is no timeline. If you read 100 books this year, then that is amazing.

If it takes you 5 years, that is amazing, too!

The world seems uncertain right now.

Participating in a book challenge is a beautiful way to separate yourself from the world for a moment.

Also, to reignite your passion for reading and discover incredible stories that will stay with you forever.

The best part?

You can go at your own pace and choose the books that speak to your heart.

Choosing Books For The Reading Challenge

I like to set personal goals within my reading challenge.

I want to read new genres or more authors of diversity.

Writing these down keeps me motivated and focused.

Picking the right books will determine my success.

I create a mix of genres and styles to keep it interesting.

Here is a sample breakdown I use:

  • 30% fiction bestseller
  • 40% non-fiction
  • 15% recommended by friends and family
  • 15% wild cards

I try to balance longer reads with shorter books.

That’s how I plan to keep the momentum going with the challenge.

Here are some of my favorites I listened to recently on Audible:

The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins

The Way Of Integrity by Martha Beck

From Here To The Great Unknown by Lisa Marie Presley & Riley Keough

Atlas Of The Heart by Brene Brown

Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

How We Live Is How We Die by Pema Chödrön

The Comfort of Crows by Margaret Renkl

Tom Lake: A Novel by Ann Patchett

The Christmas Letters by Lee Smith

We Will Be Jaguars by Nemonte Nenquimo

Create A Reading Schedule

I feel a consistent reading schedule is important.

I always try to read at the following times of the day:

  • 30 minutes before bedtime
  • 15 minutes during lunch
  • Audiobooks while driving, cleaning, and cooking

100 book challenge reading log

I have made a free printable 100-book challenge log to color in to the books I have read.

It is free for my readers; if you are already one of the free email subscribers, you can download it from the Resource Library.

If you haven’t signed up for all the free printables, you can easily sign up here, and the link and password will be emailed to you shortly.

It is so fulfilling to see the number of books add up!

I also take part in online reading groups.

It provides accountability, and it’s more fun for the challenge.

Remember, flexibility is important: if I get behind, I don’t fret; I just adjust my schedule and move on.

If I want to take a break from reading, I do because I enjoy it, I never want it to feel like a chore.

Reading has always been a passion of mine, but I’ve never pushed myself quite like this before.

It’s exciting to think about all the new worlds, ideas, and perspectives I’ll explore through these pages.

Join me on this literary journey as I dive into new stories, discover new authors, and maybe even find a few hidden gems.

I can’t wait to see how this challenge shapes my reading habits and influences my thoughts over the coming months.

Please give me some of your reading recommendations in the comments!
