Has it crossed your mind to paint your front door yellow?
Well, we jumped on the yellow door gray house trend, and it looks amazing!
A yellow front door makeover will bring JOY to any front porch.
A front door is so much more than about curb appeal.
It can make a statement about your personality.
After all, it is the first thing people will see when they come to your house.
Yellow Front Door
Our front door was UGLY. It was plain white, with some dings in it.
Just another thing on the list of either remodel or buy new for this “money pit” house of ours.
First, I had got the idea that I would paint our front door teal. Teal front doors are all over Pinterest and they are beautiful.
Who doesn’t love teal?
However, being who I am, I usually miss the “trend train.”
I’m either too early, too late, or a no-show.
Be that as it may, I decided to paint it YELLOW.
A yellow front door with a gray house looks amazing!
Yellow Door Gray House
One Saturday morning, we made one of our frequent trips to Home Depot.
As the rest of the family was looking at grills, I was over at the paint samples.
I love to paint!
I learned early on from one of my dearest Aunts that adding a new splash of paint can revive just about anything.
In the paint department, I looked over all the Behr yellow paint swatches.
The paints had lovely names such as Rise and Shine, Sun-kissed, Summer Harvest, and Honeysuckle, but I ultimately went with the color that stood out the most…Jackfruit!
I bought a sample for a little over $3 and I was on my way.
As soon as we came home, I scrubbed the door clean with Windex to remove all the dirt and grime that would keep the paint from adhering.
After about an hour, I put the first coat on.
I was a little nervous and the rest of the family gave uncertain looks as I continued painting.
But by the time I had applied the third and final coat, it was GORGEOUS!
What a difference some paint can make.
Yellow Front Door Meaning
A yellow front door means your house is cheerful, happy, and optimistic!
I have to admit, I truly love the statement that my yellow door makes.
It’s bright and sunny!
It makes me smile every time I pull into our driveway.
It turned our drab little porch into a charming welcome spot for visitors.
Also, it makes it so much easier to give directions to our house, “Just look for the house with the yellow door!”
I don’t mind standing out and neither does my joyous yellow door.
What color would you choose to paint your door? Let me know in the comments!

Hi. I'm hoping to paint my front door the same color, but Behr Jackfruit looks more orange than yellow. Do you know if Behr changed the color formula?

Hi Pam. I'm sorry, I do not know if they have changed their formula. I would suggest getting a sample and trying it out or contacting Behr. Let me know what you find out.

[…] I have been so READY to update our side door, and I thought that Behr Blueprint would do the trick. The color is timeless. In Behr’s press release, they explain the color as a “universally appealing hue [that] provides a steady stream of positivity and is poised to be an instant classic for years to come”. I love anything that brings positivity and good vibes, and if you have been following my blog, then you know I like to paint doors joyful colors, just like I did here. […]
