Make Money With the KonMari Method

Everyone is buzzing about the Marie Kondo Method, better known as the KonMari Method. Marie Kondo has become a household name because of her best-selling book “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up” which is now a popular Netflix show.

Kondo advises to unclutter your home all at once and to keep only what “sparks joy”.

By using Marie Kondo’s Method, you will declutter a massive amount of “stuff” that can ultimately be sold to bring you more cash AND have a lovely clutter-free space.

Most people using the KonMari method have gotten rid of over half of their belongings.

Remember, if it doesn’t bring you joy, then it’s time to let it go.

Think about it, how many items of clothing do you have in your closet that still have tags, that you KNOW you will never wear?

What about books you own that you will never read again or gadgets that you have upgraded?

Someone else’s garbage is someone else’s treasure. The more you get rid of, the easier it is to tidy up.

Why not make some money in the process?

What is the KonMari Method

The KonMarie Method is a way of organizing and decluttering your home. It is different than any other method because it starts with being more mindful and intentional with the things you own.

Marie Kondo’s method organizes by category instead of the location. For instance, starting with all clothes, then moving to another category such as books, and so on.

The reason the KonMari method is really trending is that it encourages us to let go of items that do not spark joy in our life.

When you are mindful of the things you own, you are happier. Decide what you want to keep, not necessarily what you want to throw away.

Remember, do it once, and never again.

KonMari Checklist

1. Visualize the life you wish to have with a clutter-free space

2. Tidy all at once

3. Tidy by category, not by place

4. Ask yourself if the item “sparks joy”

5. Give yourself permission to “let go”

6. Discard before you organize

7. Designate a place for EVERYTHING you keep

8. Remember to be mindful of anything new you bring into your home

How to Make Money With the KonMari Method

Now that you know how to use Marie Kondo’s Method it’s time to start making money with the Konmari Method! If you have used this method correctly, then you probably have tons of stuff you are ready to discard.

Remember, many of those things are worth money. You may have been sitting on top of a gold mine this whole time.

First, go through those gently used clothes and use these money-making sites like Poshmark and ThredUp to sell them. You will make the most money from these two sites for clothing items.

I would stay away from sites such as eBay and Facebook marketplace for clothing items. However, eBay will be the best place to sell antiques or gadgets. I would use Facebook marketplace for larger items that are harder to ship like furniture or area rugs. Yes, people will buy your used area rug 🙂

The BEST place to sell old books, CDs, DVDs, games, and anything tech-related is Decluttr! They give instant quotes and let you ship it for free!

If practicing the KonMari Method has sparked joy in your life, maybe you could become a certified Konmari Consultant. The KonMari method is trending and only going to grow more popular.

Marie Kondo Tips

The KonMari Method is a wonderful practice for those of us who just need a little help in making our lives and homes better.

Whether you like Marie Kondo or not, her emphasis on removing the things that don’t make us happy is spot on. She advises that we should have more gratitude toward the things we do own.

The KonMari Method influences our lives beyond material things. At the very least, you will walk away with a tidier house. At the very best, you might start thinking differently about your life and what really sparks joy.

I will leave you with this quote from her book.

“The question of what you want to own is actually the question of how you want to live your life. Attachment to the past and fears concerning the future not only govern the way you select the things you own but also represent the criteria by which you make choices in every aspect of your life…”–Marie Kondo

I loved the book! It took me a whole week to sort my stuff, and I only rented a room for myself back then. You wouldn’t even realise what a hoarder you are until you start the process. I didn’t know she had a Netflix show, it’s time to renew my subscription I guess. ?
